Serve your kava in style in a traditional Fijian bowl!
The Tanoa Bowls we sell are original, hand carved Vesi wood (raintree wood) which is the same wood they've been using in Fiji for over a thousand years to make Tanoa Bowls. They are hand carved in the Lau Group of Fiji and fine sanded to a polish in Nadi, Fiji. Much of the US has a much dryer climate than Fiji, so it is not uncommon for Tanoa Bowls to crack after being in the dry climate for a while. The remedy for this is, as soon as you receive your bowl, take some vegetable oil (any non-toxic cooking oil - I prefer olive oil) and coat the bowl with a generous layer of oil inside and out - This is of course if they haven't already been coated with oil by the sender. Let the oil soak in for several days before cleaning your bowl for use. I do this once or twice a year to keep them from cracking. They are are approximately 5 inces high and 14 inches wide. They will hold up to 1/2 gallon (2 liters) of kava. Each piece is unique so go ahead and pick out your favorite.
