The Tanoa Bowls we sell are original, hand carved Vesi wood (raintree wood) which is the same wood they've been using in Fiji for over a thousand years to make Tanoa Bowls. They are hand carved in the Lau Group Islands of Fiji. They have been stained black with natural plant tannins. We now have "unstained natural wood color 14 Inch bowls. The larger 14 inch (35 cm.) bowls will hold about 2.5 quarts (2.3 liters) of kava. The smaller 12 inch bowls (34.4 cm.) will about 1.5 quarts (1.4 liters) of kava.
